Shark Week on the Discovery Channel is known world wide and is a series of shows about one of the most popular apex predators on earth, the shark. In 2018, it starts on Sunday, July 22nd at 7 PM ET. It will last a week. Normally you would need to have a cable or satellite subscription to enjoy it. However, there are now ways to watch if you do not have either one of those.
If you are a fan of Shark Week, it may be hard to believe that this is the 30th anniversary. It is the one time of the year that a good portion of the programming on the Discovery Channel is dedicated to sharks. They talk about all sorts of sharks, and they usually have 15 – 20 new shows per year. Of course, some of them are better than others. An example of that is the “Phelps vs Shark” show of the 2017 week. Many were not happy about that show. Now, we will provide you with some different ways to watch the week of sharks. We’ll list them below so you can take a look. If you are traveling outside the US, be sure to connect to a VPN to watch.
Use PlayStation Vue to stream Shark Week
The PlayStation Vue streaming service (often called PS Vue) is another option you have. It offers the user more than 45 channels for $40 a month without a contract. Those channels include Discovery Channel, Bravo, Fox, NBCSN, ESPN, and many more. PS Vue does not only focus on sports but gives you other popular choices as well. It is one of the only services to offer the big 4 US networks. PSVue is offering a 5-day free trial to new users.
It is compatible with PS3, PS4, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, iOS, Android, and others. With this one, you have the option of streaming up to 5 devices at one time, and you can also stream and play video games. Those factors make PS Vue a good option to stream the show.
Using DirecTV Now to watch Shark Week
DirecTV Now is the standalone version of the satellite provider, DirecTV. Though some of the streaming services we mention here are focused more on sports, this one has the goal of being a total package. It provides the subscriber more than 60 channels in the starting package for $35 a month with no contract. Those include the Discovery Channel, NBCSN, USA, Fox, TNT, and many others. You can add HBO and other channels for an additional amount. It also includes more than 10,000 on demand channels. You can sign up for a 7-day free trial to see if DirecTV Now is right for you.
The service is usable on Chromecast, Android, iOS, Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV. If you are planning on streaming from your PC or Mac, you will need to use Google Chrome or Safari. You are allowed to use 2 devices at one time, and there is a rewind feature so you can replay up to the last 72 hours of TV.
